Catching up...

Last night Tim and I went to dinner so we could spend some quality time together. Sometimes when you are home you can get distracted by the silliest things like the TV, computer, chores etc. Lately, things have felt a little disconnected between us (we are still in love peeps, chill!). I have been working so much overtime and not feeling well, and we have been busy with life things that it just sorta felt like we needed to sit down, review and reconnect. So that is what we did. We packed up a notebook and went to dinner where we would be free of household distractions and two very needy puppies!
I am a big lists person so I thought it would be best for us to jot down all our ideas and concerns, goals and anything else and get them organized into a nice, manageable list!
We split everything into 4 categories:
1. Home Needs
2. Finances
3. Health and Nutrition
4. Relationship
Of course we have long term goals, but sometimes it is hard to accomplish things when the payoff is so far away. We agreed that it makes more sense for us to focus on monthly goals and at the end of each month re-assess where we are.
I was reminded that sometimes you just have to stop, take a look at where things are, and decide where you want them to be and make that happen. It was nice to talk things through and make plans together. It feels great to know you and the one you love are on the same page and in it together!
Plus, after all the important stuff was out of the way, we treated ourselves to ice cream :)
Feel free to share your tips on staying on track!

I haven't done that in ages. But yes, there's certainly a disconnect that can happen even when you're in the same place with the same person every day. Date days are so much fun! Especially when there's ice cream involved. :)
I like you must make lists, write things on calendars, notes on the mirror, even if it is just a reminder from a fortune cookie, it needs to be visible.
AWE! This is such a great idea to keep a relationship on the right track! I may steal it! This is very inspirational.
I looovveeeeeee this! Please come be a guest speaker at my therapy sessions :)
One of Ryan and my favorite things to do is make and have dinner together. Just music allowed - no computer, no television. We talk about our day, regroup if there are things we need to plan, and delegate to-dos to each other. Most of all, we laugh! It's easy to get wrapped up in the dreariness of the day to day, so we poke fun as often as we can.
Beers help, too :)
