Cat Masks and Cake...

Monday, January 30, 2012

Everyone knows someone who is just the ultimate cool person, and of course that person does not even realize how cool they are because they don't try to be cool they just are and then that makes them even cooler, right? For us, that would be Sal. There was no way we could pass up celebrating our dear friends 30th birthday, so we made a quick weekend trip to L.A. for the festivities. And here is how it went down.... (excuse the photobomb)

(Note: Tim and I found some random airbrush artist in the mall to make the above shirt, and now we are kind of obsessed with the idea of airbrushing everything. So don't be surprised on your birthday.)

Obviously, Sal loves cats, so we thought it would be a cool idea to all wear a cat mask while we sang happy birthday. In theory, it was cute. In reality, it was super creepy. Lights off, candles lit and 9 people standing around in cat masks singing. Weird but fun none the less!

Celebrating the birthdays of people I love might actually be my favorite pastime, so I am so glad we were able to help make Sal's Dirty Thirty special!
Happy Birthday Sal! You are an all around awesome person, a great friend and we are better off because we know you. We love you!

Riding in cars with {drunk} boys..

A couple weeks ago, our friend Anthony phoned us and let us know that he, along with a couple friends, would be coming to Arizona for a U.S.A. vs. Venezuela soccer game. Tim was pretty excited about this, since over the last few years he has really gotten into soccer and because we love having house guests! I deemed myself weekend chauffer, so these guys could have as much fun as they wanted without limitations. And I am pretty sure they did.

This was my first professional soccer game and I learned the following:

1. No matter what kind of football you are watching, the fans are crazy

2. Soccer is not for sissies and is way more intense and rough than I thought it would be

3. If you have beer and a soccer ball in the parking lot, you will probably make friends with strangers fast

4. Everything is better when you are enjoying it with awesome people

Thanks for a great weekend guys! Oh yeah, and we won...

After discussing what a bummer it is that Coachella tickets sold out before we could purchase ours...

BK: Man it sucks we did not get tickets

TK: Yeah its lame. We should just have our own Coachella. We can call it Assistant Coach-ella.

Quality...

Since starting school my time with Tim has been limited. Three days a week I am at school for ten hours. He leaves the house every morning before 6am and by the time I get home close to 9 I am exhausted. We say hello, eat dinner and shortly after head to bed. I have been craving some real quality time with my guy for a couple weeks now, and thankfully there was a whole bunch of that on the schedule for this weekend.
Friday, we got a bit gussied up and headed out for sushi. It was great to enjoy a couple hours and a great meal with TK. We debated a movie but decided to keep it casual, came home, caught up on the last episode of Bones (which was amazing by the way!) and just hung out.
Saturday we slept in, Tim made us a great, fresh lunch and we took our time getting out the door. We ended up spending lots of hours sitting side by side at the toyota dealership while we traded in our car. Not the best date but at least we were together!
And Sunday we just lounged around with some football on the TV and had an easy dinner at home.

my handsome dinner date

This is just the refresher we needed. Oh, and there might have been some kisses mixed in there too ;)

BlogLove: Probably Best

Wednesday, January 11, 2012

The little time that I have had available to browse the interwebs, I have been searching for something new to keep my mind fresh and happy (does that sounds weird?) Anyhow, I stumbled across Probably Best not too long ago and it has quickly become one of my faves.

The content is full of design and photography inspiration. Music, fashion and tons of just for fun stuff too! It's hard to believe the curator of this space is only 20 years old!

Head on over and see for yourself!

TK: Delicious... yummmmmmmm!

BK: That is for Red Robin

TK: I know, I just remixed it.

Lets begin with this...

Monday, January 9, 2012

I just watched Beginners and I am pretty sure it changed my life.

Actually, I will just go ahead and end with this as well.

just a quick hello...

I made it through my first week of school and I have to say, I absolutely love it! The people are great, the teachers are great, the learning is fun and by the end of the day I can barely keep my eyes open and I have never been happier.
Thanks for all the "good luck" texts, and "you can do it" messages. Not to mention the wake up calls (thanks dad!), it really means a lot to me and kept me encouraged all week long. and of course, thanks to TK for just being great.

Ready for week 2!

Oh and maybe I will actually blog something other than a few words this week. Maybe. We will see. Don't cross your fingers. But I will try. Do you even care? Thought so.

And this year brings...

Tuesday, January 3, 2012

At the beginning of 2011 I took a long look at myself and where I was in my life and knew that I needed a drastic change. I felt uninspired, and complacent and that did not settle well with me. At this time I was going on six years at my current job. I was grateful to have a steady income, security and the comfort of something familiar, but I knew I could no longer put my time and energy into something I did not have a passion for. So I began to explore other options…

I sat for a long time on all the different ideas in my head. I consulted with God, with Tim, with my family and my friends. I realized that I wanted to be creative again. Basically, for the past few years I just became stuck in the day to day and ignored any sort of imaginative thought that came to mind. I came to this conclusion: I want to possess a skill and have a career for now, instead of thinking about what I might want ten years from now. I want to do something physical and be able to work in an environment with ever changing inspiration.

So with all those things in mind I have decided to explore a career in something that has been in the back of my mind (to afraid and maybe or definitely to insecure to tap into) for as long as I can remember; cosmetology.

Starting today, I will be attending The Kohler Academy, in Scottsdale Az *
I visited many schools and this one immediately felt like the perfect fit. I am super excited about this new adventure in my life and I cannot wait to jump in, get my hands dirty and learn something new! (I know its not med school or anything but I am looking forward to the challenge!)

I wanted to make this announcement on my here to, of course, share my excitement with whoever it is that might read this little ol' blog of mine and to always have a reminder of how I felt at this time in my life. But mainly I wanted to share this so that I could publicly thank my awesome family and friends. There has not been one person in my life who has not been encouraging and supportive and available for me through this process. And you know what? I am not surprised in the least. I don't know why, but I have seriously been blessed with the most loyal, loving and amazing family and friends. And of course, TK gets mad props for being the #1 husband in the world, who is always willing to sacrifice to make me happy, without even having to think about it. I love you all!

So this year brings some major change and even though I may have had a little bit of a nervous/anxious breakdown with some excessive tears that I may have tried to play off as my reaction to a sad episode of How I Met Your Mother...I have waited to long for this, to not be ready for it.

That is probably enough sappiness to hold this blog over for the next couple of years… Thanks for reading!

*If anyone was curious about a follow up to this post, obviously, this means we will be staying in arizona for at least 1 more year. It's bittersweet, but we are happy and feel confident with the decision!

Unintentional...

Sunday, January 1, 2012

I have not had to work since before Christmas and I thought I would get a whole bunch of posts in but when you are spending quality time with the ones you love and especially with one adorable 2 year old niece, blogging somehow does not seem so important.

Hope to catch up soon
