BK: Hey, Kim Jong il died.

TK: Oh really? Is that why a piece of me died?

Just to Clarify: Tim is from South Korea.

It's 63 outside, it must be Christmas Time!

Note: I intended to post this yesterday but I was so excited about Tims awesome flyer! so If something does not make sense below, you know why...

I'm sure I probably say this every year, but I can't believe Christmas is in 6 days! And every year I say I will have my Christmas shopping done early, but of course, I am still scrambling. I intended to spend all day yesterday shopping but my stomach had other plans for me. You know those times when you think you will take your last breathe in the bathroom? TMI? No guys, that's just life.
Anyways, that means I will be in shopping/decorating/wrapping mode this week. This also happens to be the last week I will be working for the year! I am expecting a pretty hectic, busy week but I have some Christmas themed posts I am hoping to get up.

First off... My Favorite Christmas Movies! My mom has always been big on all things Christmas. Our house was always so awesomely decorated and our tree lit up and beautiful. We also spent the whole month of December watching Christmas themed movies non-stop. I have compiled a list of my top ten. A few classics passed on from my mom and a few I have grown to love on my own. Here we go!

10. The Family Stone- A crazy family with lots of siblings and everyone all up in each others business? Yeah, that definitely hits close to home and I love it. Plus, Diane Keaton never gets old!
Photobucket

9.Gremlins- Okay, so sure, there are little green monsters terrorizing a little town and basically ruining Christmas. But then there is Gizmo and he is just so darn cute!
Photobucket

8. A Christmas Story- I have seen this movie so many times I can recite every word. And thanks to TBS, we are able to watch it literally, all day, Christmas Day (and our mom makes us). You gotta love that tenacious, dirty mouthed little Ralphie!
Photobucket

7. The Santa Clause- It seems like a bad start when Santa dies in the beginning of a Christmas movie, but then Tim Allen saves the day and takes over the job with some character. And most importantly, becomes a better dad to Charlie along the way. Touching, right? Oh and I love Bernard!
Photobucket

6. Home Alone- At first Kevin McCallister might seem like a spoiled and mischievous kid. But take a closer look and you will actually find he is quite the role model for adolescents. He clearly must be a good student to know how to make all those booby traps and he manned up and defended his home for the family that forgot about him. Bravo, Kevin. Bravo.
Photobucket

5. Prancer- I have yet to meet someone outside of my family that has seen this movie and that makes me sad because I love it so much. It's about a little girl who is die-hard believer of Christmas, despite her curmudgeon father and the hard times their family has recently fallen on. She finds a reindeer with a broken leg, whom she believes is Prancer and decides to secretly nurse him back to health. Bonus, Sam Elliot plays the father. Old man crush anyone?
Photobucket

4. Scrooged- Bill Murray doing Dickens? Nuff Said
Photobucket

3. Miracle on 34Th Street (Original)- I stopped believing in Santa Clause when I was about 4 years old but I like to believe that if anyone was ever coming down my chimney it was this guy.
Photobucket

2. The Muppet Christmas Carol- The muppets doing Dickens? Nuff said
Photobucket

1. It's A Wonderful Life- This is my moms favorite Christmas movie and by no coincidence, mine as well. So many years I can remember cuddling up her on the couch and popping this classic into the VCR (ha!. This is the perfect Christmas movie.
Photobucket

Bonus Movie: My brother just text me and reminded me of another one of our favorites, All I want for Christmas. It's about a brother and his little sister who scheme up a plan to get their separated parents back together by Christmas. I didn't want to remove any of the ten I already listed so I am throwing this one in as a bonus!

So there you have it! Watching these movies with my family is one of my favorite Christmas traditions. I love that my mom was always so into them and that she passed that same love onto us.
Now go grab a cup of eggnog and pop one of these on! And don't forget to share your favorites too!

Friday...

Friday, December 16, 2011

Today was a great day because...
- There were free hot pockets at work
- I got a box full of gifts from a client that included this awesome hat pictured below. it say "Get Laid By The Best" and it is a totally inappropriate thing to wear at work so I wore it all day...
Photobucket

-We got an awesome white christmas tree
-Today is Friday

Christmas is driving me crazy right now so I am off to do more shopping. Seems reasonable right?

BTW- I only made this post so I could show off this hat. I feel like a G in it.

My friends are cooler than yours...

Wednesday, December 14, 2011

I often mention how awesome (and maybe weird) my friends are, but have I ever mentioned how talented they are as well?
A few of them have been doing some pretty awesome things lately so I thought I would take a second to share with you.

If you want to dance and feel cool you should check out my friend Eric's new project Death Rattle. Basically because they are cool and make music that makes you want to dance.

My lovely friend Sasha has made her directorial debut with two Christmas themed one acts that will for sure put you in the holiday spirit! I was lucky enough to catch a showing this weekend while I was in L.A. and if you are in the area you should do the same. This weekend is your last chance so get a move on! I couldn't find a picture from the show so you just get to look at Sasha's adorable face!

I don't assume Jerame knows how to do things like read or write but he can actually play the guitar pretty well and is doing just that in his new gig with Golden Youth. Take a listen if you want to dream of bike rides, puppies and picnic lunches.

And of course, the one website I depend on for all my music, movies, art and all things awesome needs, CromeYellow. Run by my good friends Sal and Ryan, CY is never short of great content and stuff you need to know about to make you cool. Plus, you can check out their tumblr for even more!

After dropping Sasha off at the airport...

TK: You guys got along real well this weekend
BK: Well she is my best friend
TK: You have good chemistry
BK: Well she is my best friend
TK: You know what? I am not an alchemist. I don't know how to mix potions and other ingredients.
BK: What?

Girls just wanna have fun...

Tuesday, December 13, 2011

Okay I know this title is cheesy, but you know it's true! Do you ever have so much fun that you forget to take pictures? That was basically my whole weekend. I had the best long weekend spending it with my favorite girls (and a couple of my favorite guys).
Basically this is what our weekend looked like:
-Shopping
-Eating
-Laughing our asses off
-Repeat

And now I will get a little sentimental...
I feel like I hear/read so many stories about girls being ugly and mean to other girls that it makes me believe it must be hard to find real good girlfriends. So with that being said I am so grateful to have a hand full of great/loving/caring/fun and beautiful ladies in my life.

and here is a crappy cell phone picture from this weekend...

I may or may not be a little tipsy.

Right now I am sitting at the airport waiting for my delayed flight to L.A. to take off. Yeah I am off to L.A. again. But this time I am leaving the mister at home. A month or so ago, flights were super cheap so I booked a flight for a girls weekend! Don't worry about TK. My brother in law Ryan is headed to AZ tomorrow night to keep him company. How cute right?

Here are a few random thoughts I will share with you all while I kill time:

-The airport has free Internet now. Win!

-I almost got ran off the road by a United States Postal Service diesel truck on my way home from work. UPS all the way for me now!

- On that same drive home I witnessed an RV pulling a trailer with two dead horses on it. DEAD HORSES!! I freaked out and started yelling in my car. Guys, the horses were just laying on the trailer all exposed. Is that even legal?

-My fingers are freezing.

-I am unsure if I packed a toothbrush.

and that is the extent of what is on my mind right now. Of course other than I can't wait to get to L.A. so I can do more of this:

Don't be jeal.
Wait, I think I hear a plane... bye!

My Tooth and I...

Wednesday, December 7, 2011

So here is a little thing you should know about me, I don't really go to the dentist. I remember going a few times as a kid but I never had one cavity and I was blessed with perfectly straight teeth, so it always just seemed like I was going there so someone else could brush my teeth with fancy tools. I think I should probably blame my mom for not instilling the importance of dentistry in me. She hates the dentist, and therefore never spoke too kindly about him. (Never mind the fact I have been an adult for 6 years now with my own dental insurance. If I didn't blame it on my mom, it would be unhealthy)
Anyways, lets rewind to almost 4 years ago right before my wedding. Also known as the last time I went to the dentist. My wisdom teeth had started to grow in and they were rather bothersome. I went for a visit and it unfolded something like this...

Dentist: "Everything looks good! You should probably get those pulled sometime when they grow in a bit more, but no other issues"
Me: "Yay! I never need to go to the dentist again!"

Now let's travel back a couple weeks, while I was packing up for our trip and my mouth suddenly felt like I was biting into a Popsicle while simultaneously being punched in the mouth. After discovering my tooth was chipped (how the hell??) and realizing I was forming a bad ibuprofen habit to kill the pain, I decided I should probably go to the dentist. I thought to myself " ah shucks, my lucky teeth streak has ended" and figured I would probably have to get a filling or some mild procedure. No big deal right?

Well it did not exactly play out so simply. I had an x-ray done and he poked around in my mouth for a bit and then said "So is the pain excruciating? Do you need me to prescribe pain killers?". Apparently my tooth was rotted to the bone. TO THE BONE! He starts talking about different options and saying lots of dental words like root canal, and crown and cap. I listen and look dumb and then inform him that he must be looking at the wrong x-ray because I have perfect teeth. Then he kindly suggests that the only way to efficiently correct the problem is to extract my tooth. What? I have never had so much as a tiny filling and I need a tooth removed? Immediately visions of meth heads flashed before my eyes. We of course discussed other options, but in the end, he was right. The tooth had to go. I sent a text to my husband informing him of this misfortune. He replied " Babe, no big deal. You would still look hott even if you had no teeth". I praised him for his kindness and his ability to lie so sweetly.

I got home, was super bummed and pouted for a long while. Overall I was pretty upset with myself. Although the dentist did say he thought the situation was a bit of an anomaly and possibly unpreventable, (because I was not in pain for more than 2 weeks it seemed like the tooth somehow rotted extremely quickly?) I felt stupid for neglecting to do something as simple as going to the dentist for routine check ups. Now don't think for a second I am above the superficial aspect of this whole thing and was not concerned about missing a tooth. Of course I was! We have all had that dream where we lose a tooth and wake up in a panic and check real quick to make sure they are all still there right? Well I would be waking up from that nightmare soon and my tooth would definitely not be there! I was extremely concerned about how I would look and a good portion of my pouting was in regards to ruining my award winning smile. ( JK guys. But seriously...) And I just felt embarrassed.
Embarrassed that I was neglectful, embarrassed that I would be missing a tooth and just overall insecure about the whole thing.

Now this brings us to yesterday afternoon, when the tooth was finally taken out. The procedure was pretty painless (thanks to a really great dentist) and other than an extremely numb face that prevented me to show real emotion (is this what botox is like?) or eat for awhile, everything went pretty smoothly. For now I will wear a retainer and sometime in the hopefully near future have a dental implant put in, so I thankfully won't have to walk around with a visibly missing space. I was not going to talk about this at all. I was seriously so upset about the whole thing and other than my family, I preferred that no one knew.
But you know I figured, why be ashamed and feel embarrassed over it? I don't want to walk around always concerned that someone will notice and constantly being conscience of it and making myself feel uncomfortable. Plus, I started to feel like after having the procedure done I would somehow be considered less classy or ladylike and that made me feel the most silly and ashamed. Isn't it crazy that one little tooth could totally shake my confidence? So I am going to chalk this up to another little life lesson, yell at my mom for her poor parenting skills (love you mom!), and move on.

Besides, no one can make you feel embarrassed if you embarrass yourself first...so here goes nothing...

Disconnected//Reconnected...

Tuesday, December 6, 2011

I have been sorta M.I.A. in all social networking for the past few days. Thursday I came down with a viral infection of some kind that made me insanely sick. I pretty much went to bed that night and woke up Saturday just in time to pick my bestie Sasha up from the airport. She was coming into town for the weekend to attend a wedding and I was not going to let some silly sickness keep me from spending quality time with ma gurl!

Photobucket

After the wedding duties were tended to, we spent a whole bunch of quality time together. As long as Sasha and I have been close friends, we have never lived in the same state. Most of the time when I visit L.A. she is wayyyy busy with the exciting life she lives.
(Example: Here)
We found ourselves exclaiming "this is fun!" while doing normal friend things like chatting on my bed, shopping and having dinner together. Seriously, the last time we got a one on one sesh in we had to meet up in Seattle! I tell ya, there is no better medicine then spending time with one of your favorite people!

So now I am trying to catch up on here, what's going on guys?

Thanksgiving/BlackFriday//Vacation Part 3...

Thursday, December 1, 2011

Whew, that is a lot to cover in one little title. We came back to L.A. to celebrate Thanksgiving with Tims family. Sadly, I did not snap one picture during our Thanksgiving feast. And a feast it was! This is the 2nd year my lovely sister in law Debbie, has planned and prepared Thanksgiving all on her own and she seriously is a magician in the kitchen. I don't usually help at all (which is a good thing if we want to eat) except for dessert and maybe she will have me cut something or hold a bowl. So mad props to Big Deb for her cray cray cookin skillz!
Later that evening, our friends came over and we broke out the leftovers for a bit of a "friendsgiving" if you wil. Then we bundled up and headed to Best Buy for Black Friday shopping. We got to Best Buy around 11:30, saw the line, and went home. It was INSANE. There was no one interested in real big ticket items or "Door Busters" so we thought we could roll up a bit before the store opened and maybe we would have to wait in line for awhile, but no biggie. I asked one of the guys towards the front of the line how long he had been waiting and he said since Monday. What is wrong with those people! I wanted Crazy, Stupid, Love on blu ray for 10 bucks real bad, but come on! (Don't worry, a best buy trip was made later in the day and I can now enjoy Ryan Gosling in all his sexiness in the comfort of my own home)
The night was far from a bust though. I stayed up till 4am hanging out with these guys:

And these insane people, I am proud to say, are my best friends :)

We played charades for most of the night until nothing made sense anymore. I threw this video together real quick (like you will know how quick when you see how crappy it is) so if you want, check it out and see if you can guess.

And I know I am a little late in the game but here are a few things I am thankful for:
-My patient, loving, hardworking, loyal, and sweet husband who seriously cracks me up everyday
-My family and the foundation we share together
-My friends, who each bring something different to my life and are just truly the best friends a girl could ask for
-My dogs because they are cute and cuddly and make me smile everyday

and these things, I am thankful for everyday.
