My Weekend in an Instax

Wednesday, August 25, 2010

This weekend we traveled back to ca to pick up my adorable niece and her wonderful mom.
Of course, while we were there we got in a little friend action too. I intended on getting great photos but that did not really happen. I don't really feel like these pictures convey how great of a weekend it was, but let me tell you... the weekend was really great.

We rode the metro for the first time and loved it! 1.50 each way? what the heck! Just a little fact about me, I have never ridden any type of public transportation before. Yes, I am 23, so what.
I wish we had a subway in the AZ, but the stations underground would probably feel similar to hell in this heat.

* that man holding his child totally thought I was taking a picture of him.. actually that is my husband standing next to him...see? yeah, that one.
Our destination on the metro was Universal CityWalk. ten minutes! that is all it took.
I bought a new nose ring, and Tk picked through 75% off candy at a closing candy store, then all five of us grubbed on Tommy's chili fries and a hot dog from Pink's
(as mentioned in my previous post)
*I apologize for these insanely poor pictures. On the left, if you look real close, that blue outlined figure is King Kong.
We jumped on the metro back home, ate Thai food, and then engaged in some intense Jenga play.

Sunday we grabbed lunch and then headed to pick up that baby! We had to practically pull her out of my brothers arms, but you can't blame him...she is so stinking cute!!
* can I just point out that he needs a haircut really bad?
The ride home seemed long this time, but it was worth it to get a whole nine days with our darling babe.
I am ready for next weekend.

and that is why they call her a hot killer...

My bestie Sasha is pretty awesome. I am telling you, this girl is something special. Which explains why she just landed an amazing internship with a very awesome organization.

Krochet Kids Intl. is a non-profit organization started by three young men who loved to crochet.
Yes, men who love to crochet.. awesome right? I told you.
They employee woman from Northern Uganda to crochet beautiful pieces which are sold to provide immediate stability to their families.

It is really quite special. Make sure you check out the online store and for those of you in southern Ca, Nordstroms! I think I might have to pick up a few Christmas presents here.

And to you Sashie, It really is no surprise to me that you were chosen amongst so many others...it is not hard to see what is in that heart of yours. I am so proud of you.
Now go work it!

Please excuse my absence...

I have been doing too much of this lately,
* crappy blackberry photo.
to think about watching my weight (am I using my niece as en excuse? Hell yes!) or to share my weekend with you in an instax.
So just a quick note on some things:
- Instax will be posted tonight...probably...most likely.
- WtW week 7. I was in California Sunday (weigh in day) and I did not weigh in. I could probably guess that the scale would not have shown what I wanted to see though. I did not work out the entire week. I can try to reason with myself that I was very busy preparing for the weekend trip and our house guests, but ultimately I know that if I really wanted to work in a workout, I would have. I then indulged a bit on some grub in CA. Although, Tommy's chili fries and a hot dog from Pink's is not that bad when shared with 4 other people, but just as delicious!
Side Letter:
Arizona,
You are seriously lacking in options for delicious chili fries. Please do something about that.
Thank you
Side Note:
Is there something off about making a request to the entire state of Arizona to provide me with chili fries during my "Watching the Weight" post? No right? right.
Anyhow, I think I slightly made up for my hefty (get it?) indiscretions with a hike to the Griffith Observatory on Saturday with Tk, Sasha, Debbie and Ryan.
Did you know.... I hate hiking. I really don't get it, but doing it with your besties is not SO bad, and the view was pretty amazing.
- Tuesday was an insanely bad day for me but doing a ton of the above with Liela made it soooo much better. I wish I could keep her around so I can get kisses and hugs and squeezes in whenever I want to.
Stop right there... No. I am not going to just have one of my own... yet.
- This quick note is turning into a long post.
- I am ending it here.

Into it...

I have really been feeling the "ombre" hairstyle lately... subtle but sassy I think.
But, I am not sure anyone could pull it off in such high contrast like Drew can.

Have I ever spoken about my love for Drew? No, well let me tell you...
Drew and I go way back. We hit it off during E.T. and things just kept getting better from there.
You know you loved yourself some Drew and vintage Jessica Alba in "Never Been Kissed" and was she not the most darling in "50 first dates"?
She is even better when complimented with Mr. Grant (whom I also love) in "Music & Lyrics"
Note: TK and Kyle (bro) agreed to go watch this movie with me in the theatre. They loved it. Bought the DVD and watched it at home. Don't try and deny it now boys, no secrets here!
But on a more serious note, can we stand and give a round of applause for her performance as Little Edie in "Grey Gardens".... I wore scarves around my head, danced around the house and called TK "Mother Darling" for about a month.

Note: Everyone deserves a mistake here and there... no reason to bring up "Home Fries"...

Don't worry Drew, you da bomb!

Is it Friday yet? oh yeah and WtW 6...

I am participating in the Home Ec live chat happening right now (!), so I thought while I wait for some questions to be answered I would update this here blog of mine. Speaking of Home Ec...Rachel, Courtney, and Leigh-Ann are sewing geniuses and wonderful teachers... I on the other hand flat out STINK!
I have yet to move past the first project. I just cannot seem to get my machine to work right, or I don't work right is more like it. Why is my grandma out of town for so long? Get home grandma and teach me to sew!

In other news... we are going to California this weekend (yes, again.) but this time we are bringing Brittany (brothers wonderfully sweet and pretty gf) and Liela (the most adorable baby on the planet, not just cause she is my niece) back with us for a 10 day stay!! We are beyond excited to have some time to visit with those two. Unfortunately for me, school starts that same week but I have scheduled some time off to make sure I get plenty of baby squeezing in :)
I realized today I never wrote my "Watching the Weight -Week 6" post...
Weight Loss: 1 pound... as usual
Slow and steady wins the race?
"Oh what is that I hear TK, you have agreed to clean the whole house right now?"
fine... i will be right there.

For your viewing pleasure:

My Weekend in an Instax

Sunday, August 15, 2010

I wrote an entire post and it somehow was deleted. Lame
Anyhow, this weekend despite my daily serving of insomnia and my zombie like demeanor, I insisted we paint the kitchen and living room.
Basically because I hate my current walls, and because next weekend we are busy, the weekend after that busy and the weekend after that busy, oh and I refuse to let another house guest see my hideous walls.

So, we did just that. Painted the living room and the kitchen a lovely shade of aqua smoke. I was very hesitant about painting over my lovely yellow kitchen but I am really glad I did. The new color makes our home feel much cooler... and in Arizona that is a huge plus.

New Feature... My Weekend in an Instax

Monday, August 9, 2010

For Christmas last year,Tk bough me a FugiFilm Instax Mini Camera and a bundle of film. I dropped hints like crazy and he totally pulled through. The thing is, other than that first month when I was all hyped up about it, I have not used it much. It is a bad habit of mine.

Soooooo, in an effort to get some use out of it (because I really do love it and highly recommend it) I am going to try (try!) and incorporate a new weekly feature on this here blog....

"My Weekend in an Instax"...clever? No. Well I tried.

Each weekend I will use my instax camera to capture a few images that stick out to me.
So here is my first week...of course Sal and Murphy are starting it off with some mad cuteness!

1. Murphy lickin' it up
2. Tk's garden gnome collection..wierd, I know
3. Rainbow cupcakes for livi's 12th birthday
4. The boys...Sal's nose just kills me!

WtW-Week 5

Okay let's just get straight to it...
Weight loss: 1 pound.
I have to be honest, I am kind of falling into a "what the eff is up with this one pound deal?" attitude.
I know it is considered a "healthy weight loss" but after reviewing my eating and exercise habits each week, I am a bit perplexed as to how this thing is working. I do not see much of a difference from week to week to one week lose 3 pounds and one week lose one pound and so on.
I pushed the exercise a lot more this week and other than a 3 am trip to ihop where I indulged in one nutella crepe, I kept a very close eye on what I ate.
I am noticing that I am sticking pretty closely to eating the same foods day after day... so much so that I often do not log my meal because I already know I am staying within my range.
I am thinking maybe I should mix up my diet a bit and work more veggies in... not a huge fan of veggies, but I suppose they are necessary.
I want to get back to faithfully logging and meal planning...no falling off of this wagon!

School starts in two weeks and that same week Britt and my lovely butterball niece will be visiting, so I really want to try and use the next two weeks to turn it up a notch and work my butt off.
* Note: Baby chub is 0 points/ 0 cals so I am free to eat as much as I desire*

On with week 5!

You know you totally want to eat this baby too!

WtW- Week4

Sunday, August 1, 2010

Is it seriously week four? If that is the case I think I need to step up my game a bit. Or, a lot.
This week I was super lazy and have no problem admitting it. I was tired and I let a mild sore throat(that I am positive was passed onto me by the soon to be Mrs. Robles)be my excuse for only working out one day this week. Twice in that day, but only one day.

Although I did not put my BODY IN MOTION much this week,I did not waver much on my diet.
Note: Bodies in Motion was a real aerobic workout VHS that I used to do with my mom when I was a kid. The guy's name is Gilad and he always talks about your buttocks.
I tried real hard to make good choices this week especially because I was physically being lazy.
Other than Sunday, when I threw all rules out the window and grubbed big time on some bomb (is that word still in use?) Hawaiian food. I was still in California and I read somewhere that when you cross a border into another state, you are given the right to make up your own rules for the length of stay in that state... so I am all good there.

On with it...
Weight Loss: 1 pound.
Kinda lame but let us re-cap why I only lost one pound
-Bomb Hawaiian Food
-Lazy ass
and there you have it!
Although, the one pound weight loss is a little week, it does bring my back to the five pound mark so I am happy with that.
Oh yes!another thing.. I am actually starting to see somewhat of a physical change but I have yet to log my measurements so I am not sure of the specifics.
Anyhow goals for this week:
-Don't be a lazy ass

Let's see where that gets me :)
