The day my best friend met Jason Schwartzman...

Friday, September 30, 2011

Last Friday was the season 4 premiere of Fringe. Tim and I did not have any plans that night so I decided to just put together a little living room picnic for the two of us, catch the premiere and maybe watch a movie or two after.

*I always way over buy on food, and this basically fed us the entire weekend.

We played Fringe Bingo (FRINGO!) but neither of us won, haha

There was one very sad puppy who was hoping that if he looked cute enough might get a few of our snacks...

Photobucket
It almost worked.

The premier was pretty good although I am sorta nervous for the season. We did not end up watching a movie though because I crashed out big time after the show. I woke up a couple hours later, face planted on the ground, and Tim playing Call of Duty. But before the burn out, it was fun to mix things up a bit for the night!

And if your wondering what the title of this post has to do with our night, well, it has nothing to do with it. But while we were at home watching TV and eating cheese and crackers, my bestie Sasha was meeting Jason Schwartzman!!

Photobucket
Isn't she way cute guys? (She is single, holla for her number!) I don't live a life with these sort of exciting experiences so I have to share hers. Go ahead and be jeal, I am.

Have you guys been missing Tim? Here is a little something for you...

One time when Tim was trying to tell me a joke...

BK: Did you just realize that joke was so bad you stopped right in the middle?

TK: Yeah, It actually happens a lot more than you would think.

Giving In...

Tuesday, September 27, 2011

Lately I have reallllly been wanting to get a new computer. A laptop specifically. We have a net book but it is so teenie tiny and slow that I don't really like to use it and sometimes when I am working from home or blogging or editing pictures or whatever, I get tired of being cooped up in the office by myself all night on the desktop. So recently I have been dropping some un-subtle hints to Tim that I am interested in owning a MacBook. After days of mentioning it (and nights of whispering "MacBook...Bri..." in his ear), he finally gave in and agreed! He is a pretty super awesome husband and don't worry I am having a trophy made for him. Naturally, the main reason I wanted it was so that I could take pictures of myself so of course we put photobooth to use right away. So here is an excess of photo fun with my dad, TK and sister Liv. Such an attractive group, right?

By The way guys, do you ever use the crazy morphing effects and think "Ew I look so gross, but wait I think I have seen someone who looks this way" and then feel sorta bad for them? Just me?
Oh and this is my cousin Keelie and I at work the next day. I am pretty sure this one takes the cake

Thanks for indulging me and my face.

Guys, I don’t know where Peter Bishop is but I am dying to find out!! Tonight we have plans to stay home, watch the premiere of Fringe (yay!ah!) and make it a movie night after. Times like these I wish we were back in LA so we could have a Fringe Party and play Fringe Bingo! (of course, assuming that my friends would actually want to attend... I think they would. Right guys?) Anyhow, It is a good thing Tim makes for good company!

Here are some links I enjoyed this week:
- We saw Drive on Monday and I did not think it was possible, but I fell in love with Ryan Gosling even harder. I would totally drive around L.A. with him any day! (J/K I love TK!) If you have not seen it read this and go watch! I loved it!

-I totally related to Kate's post on what she refuses to pay over a dollar for

-I love this post from Dani on technology today vs. back in the day! So true… I always tell my sisters they need to put the phone down and get offline for a sec!

-LOVE Kara's post about why she blogs and being real

-Great Post from Liz on pushing yourself to work out

Have a great weekend!

The Little Things...

Thursday, September 22, 2011

Last night Tim and I went out for sushi before running a couple errands. I paid for dinner but as soon as the server handed me back my card I immediately handed it to Tim to figure out the tip. I just hate figuring out the tip. It's just like one of those little things that I don't like to do and Tim is more than willing (and at this point expects it) to take care of the it for me. So I started thinking about all those little things that I hate to do that having a husband has for the most part allowed me to not have to do anymore...

-Figure out the tip on a bill

-Clean up poopy pup situations

-Struggle to reach things high in my closet

-Run to the store late at night for last minute things

-Watch terrible television by myself

-Get up for a glass of water when I just found the comfiest spot

-Figure out electronic stuff

and honestly, the list could probably go on for awhile. Of course, there are the big things like being a hardworker, an always encouraging partner and just an overall great guy. But sometimes it is good to stop and think about the little things, that on a day to day could go unnoticed, cause we all know the little things count just as much. Especially when the pup drops one on the carpet.

*Bri- Don't tilt your head back
*Tim- But I want to look gangster

Oh yeah, and I can't forget incredibly handsome :)

Well now...

My Weekend in an Instant...

Tuesday, September 20, 2011

So this weekend I was pretty much only alive on Friday. After that, there was little to no activity.
Right after work Friday, Tim and I met an old friend for drinks who just moved back to Arizona. It was nice to catch up! Later that night we headed over to The Haires to hang out. Of course my allergies had a different plan for me and by the time we left, my eyes were practically swollen shut. What the heck allergies? Can't you just relax sometimes? I came home and went straight to sleep and the rest of the weekend pretty much went like this:

-Sleep all day (I moved from my bed to the couch around 8:30am, and then I slept till 6:00pm. Don't be too impressed by my narcoleptic skills y'all)
-Have dinner at my moms house and visit with family from out of town
-Sleep till Sunday
-Go shopping with my mom for a couple hours
-Sleep the rest of the night

Photobucket

Do you guys see a recurring pattern every weekend? Ya, I sleep a lot, but even I was sorta impressed by how much I was able to sleep this weekend.
So basically, because I was sleeping so much I did not get a whole lot of opportunity to take pictures. But that's okay, because this one picture basically made my whole weekend, Emily's Self Portrait:
Photobucket
I am blown away by her talent. Blown away guys!
So there you have it, another boring sleepy weekend. I am thinking this weekend I will actually do something. Seriously! I will! Gosh! Believe me!

Oh wait, on Saturday night I watched Cry-Baby. There is no way I could sleep through this face

Here is my hot lunch date:
Photobucket

This weekend is off to a great start because I got to have lunch with TK this afternoon. Occasionally, Tim has some business to tend to out by my office so whenever he is in the area we grab lunch together. It's funny how you can see someone everyday, but when you get to see that person at a time you normally don't get to (the middle of the day) it is exciting! haha. Tonight we are going to grab a drink with an old friend after work, and other than that we don't really have any solid plans for the weekend. Probably do a little bit of cleaning (like wipe down the counter tops) and get my eyebrows done, because that is way over due (I apologize if you have seen my face this week), and hopefully spend some time with family that is in from California. But first...

Here are some links I enjoyed this week:

- So I am way excited Cromeyellow chose Sofia Coppola for their first ever Director Series! Make sure you check back throughout the month!

-This is not helping my desire to want to re-paint my walls white.

-I just stumbled upon this blog the other day and I am loving it! Especially their ideas on how to display Polaroids!

-These ball point pen paintings are pretty rad.

-I am in LOVE with Danni’s new store Reverie Market. Congrats Danni it is gorgeous!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Note From Foster Mom Nessa:
He was found running down pv drive east on 4th of july last year. we think he was a breeder dog. he was not fixed, sunburnt, flea ridden and scared to death of everything. his skin was black when he was found and his teeth were rotten from neglect. he is still VERY timid but sweet and his fur has grown back but he has bald patches from sun damage. he has had his teeth cleaned and is in great health now. he shows no signs slowing down anytime soon.. no creaky bones. although he prefers to live most of his life on the couch or laying in the sunshine :)

Adoption Info:
Quinn is available for adoption through Whiskers & Tails. If you are interested, you must go to http://www.whiskerstails.org/ and fill out an application. You can also see him on petfinder by going to the link on the website. His adoption fee would be $300.

Random Little Happy Things...

Thursday, September 15, 2011

Today was just sorta a crappy day. You know one of those days where you woke up at 6:00 and 6:10 you were over it? Yeah, one of those days. Instead of sitting in a stink all day, I thought about a few things that made me happy this week, and decided to share them here with you. Maybe I will make this a regular thing to help keep things in perspective.

Here we go:

During a random conversation about playing an instrument...

BK: I wish I would have never given up on Piano when I was a kid. Maybe I should take lessons again.

TK: You should! Then we can start a band together and you can play piano and I can make ocean sounds!

BK: What?

The A-Z of me...

Photobucket

I am not usually into doing stuff like this but I saw it on Kara’s blog (and a couple others since then) and it is sorta the perfect thing to do when you don’t want to do what you should be doing. So maybe you wanna know a few useless facts about me, who am I to keep that information from you? On we go…

A. Age: 24
B. Bed size: King, which somehow with 1 husband and two very inconsiderate-while-sleeping pups, feels like a twin
C. Chore that you hate: Is there a chore you like?
D. Dogs: Sal Poodielove and Murphy Bean
E. Essential start to your day: Murphy jumping on my face (as soon as my alarm goes off, he jumps on my face)
F. Favorite color: Grey
G. Gold or Silver: hmm it depends, but lately gold (if done tastefully, of course)
H. Height: 5’4
I. Instruments you play: I don’t play any currently, but as a kid I played piano and saxophone for a few years (I have read a few of these on other blogs and it seems everyone around my age has played piano and saxophone?)
J. Job title: Pension Associate, boring right? (That’s going to drastically change soon, stay tuned!)
K. Kids: Nada for now. But seriously, who needs a baby when you have dogs who beg to be carried and jump on your face?
L. Live: Chandler
M. Mother’s name: Susan, but I prefer one of the following-Mother, Mom, Ma, Madre
N. Nicknames: Bri, BK, Nan, Nanny, Nanita
O. Overnight hospital stays: Surgery 2007-4 nights in the hospital
P. Pet peeves: Open mouth chewing. (My parents were crazy strict about chewing with your mouth open, now whenever I hear someone doing it I feel like saying “Leave the table if you cannot chew correctly!”- Interesting Fact- My husband does it all the time. Drives me insane!)
Q. Quote from a movie: "Commaaaandeeerr weeee neeeed yourrrrr helppp”- Galaxy Quest (don’t hate)
R. Right or left handed: Right.
S. Siblings: 4- 1 Brother (26), 3 Sisters (19, 15, 13)
T. Time you wake up: Weekdays, around 6- Weekends, I am unaware of such a thing as “A.M.” on Saturday and Sunday
U. Underwear: Yes, please.
V. Vegetable you hate: ONIONS, any kind, prepared anyway, hands down.
W. What makes you run late: The ability to continue to sleep with a puppy sitting on my face
X. X-Rays you’ve had: Teeth, Leg and foot (fractured both in the 2nd grade)
Y. Yummy food that you make: I don’t cook anything delicious, but I love to bake!
Z. Zoo animal: I know it is so unoriginal (which is so unlike my trendsetting ways) but I do love orangutans. They are so silly and orange-ish.

My weekend in an instant...

Monday, September 12, 2011

Okay guys, I have literally been trying to write this post for an hour. I started putting it together and half way through my Internet went bonkers and I lost everything. Then once my Internet was up my husband passed lethal gas and conveniently left the room as quickly as possible. I almost died from the severity of that stench. I almost died people! But I pulled myself together so I could finish this post. The sad thing is, I have been trying to write this post for an hour and I could probably sum up what I did this weekend in like a quick second...ready count:

Nothing. How long did that take?
Okay, so I did a couple of things but just to be clear, between Friday after work until this morning, I did not get dressed (in like cute, real clothes), put on makeup or leave my house. Once. Don't be jeal y'all. You can come over this weekend and sit around in your pj's and watch Bones reruns with me if you want, no prob.

Friday I came home from work and crashed on the couch. I did not even hear Tim come through the door which enabled him to take rather unflattering pictures of me while I was all arms spread out, open mouthed asleep. Said pictures have since been deleted. Once I awoke, hours later... I started working on a special project (the same I mentioned in my Friday post). I honestly thought that I could finish it in a few hours. by 2:00am I said to myself "You’re a fool! Go to bed and start again tomorrow!" and that is what I did.
Photobucket
I set my alarm for 8:00am Saturday morning and promptly woke up at 12:00pm. I worked on this project until 7:00pm.

Tim kept me alive by feeding me jamba juice and trail mix and checking on me every now and then. (btw-do you notice how many cutting tools I have?)
Photobucket
Afterwards, I thought about getting dressed and going out but while I was thinking I fell asleep with Sal and Murphy.
Photobucket
*is it just me, or does it sorta look like they are making a heart with their ears?

Photobucket
Sunday, I woke up at 7:30AM . That is AM guys. Don't worry, I ate breakfast and went back to sleep until 11:30am. I know what is important in life.

The weather was actually tolerable this weekend with lots of rain and even a bit of a breeze. It almost felt like a real fall and instead of enjoying it outside all I wanted to do was lay around and cuddle with my man. Even if that meant while watching football. It was a pretty great Sunday. We just enjoyed each others company, I made cookies, my mom bought me an awesome vintage pillow and we all fell asleep on the couch.
Photobucket

A productive weekend? Not so much. But a fruitful one, yes.
How was your weekend? Happy Monday!

Friday...

Friday, September 9, 2011

Here is a little peak into a project I will be working on this weekend (I can't show to much because it is for a birthday!) I drafted up a sample last night and it felt good to be a bit crafty and creative so I am hoping this project turns out well and I don't burn myself with hot glue, too many times! Other than that, I don't have any solid plans for this weekend so we will just see how each day goes. I just want to spend lots more time with my hubs and watch re-runs of Bones!

-At one point in my life, I would have rushed out and bought all of this.

-I think soft pretzels are the perfect snack. Maybe I should give this a shot!

-If I was getting married today I would definitely choose something like this.

-My heart goes out to Melissa and her little family this week as they struggle with this. Her bravery is commendable!

-I want this couch more than you know- I would sale my wedding ring for it-JK Guys, calm down. (Note: Last night I wanted to show this couch to TIm so instead of going to the UO website, I typed "couch" in my browser)

-This book looks hilarious! Has anyone read it? Via Cromeyellow. (plus, don't forget to check out my Fall TV Guide!)

K-9 Companion...

This is my friend Nessa.
Photobucket
I am pretty sure it is a fact that she loves animals more than she loves people. Nessa does great things to save animals and spends lots of her time fostering and searching to find them homes. I decided that I wanted to try and help her out a little bit. I know not to many people read my lil ol' blog, but it does not hurt to try and find one of these sweet furry friends a home.
Today, I would like to introduce you to Ginger.

Photobucket

Ginger is between 1-2 years old and is as sweet as can be! She is a very fun-loving easy going, affectionate and playful Dachshund/Chihuahua mix. Ginger came into the shelter as a stray and is currently being loved on at Nessa's house until she can find a forever home. Ginger is currently located in the Los Angeles area but can be adopted out of state. (Transportation may be available)

If you have fallen in love with that adorable little face and would like to make Ginger a part of your family (or another dog!) contact Nessa Hughes at nessasaur@gmail.com or 310-956-0439

Also- The Shelters that Nessa works with are looking for any old animal essentials you might have lying around that you are no longer using. Collars, shampoo, food, clothes,- you name it- If you would like to donate you can contact me at brikim223@gmail.com.

* We would like to post a new pup each week so, if you know of a pet that is looking for a loving home, let me know!
