San Francisco // Vacation Part 2

Wednesday, November 30, 2011

After a few fun filled days in Los Angeles, we headed up north to San Francisco to visit our good friend Jerame. I was going to try and split this into two posts but whatevs. If you get tired of reading, stop half way through and come back later.

DAY1-
We did the tourist thing and made Jerame take us to the Golden Gate Bridge. Or at least close to it.

Then we spent the rest of the day shopping, drinking, and eating great food. I love when visiting friends in a different city we get to try all their favorite places. Below is seriously the best bbq chicken salad I have ever had.

Whilst galavanting around SF, I stumbled upon Avila Street. This is my moms maiden name so I snapped a pic cause I knew my family would get a kick out of it!

We ended the night with drinks and ice cream and then Tim passed out while I watched Clueless and Josie and the Pussycats with my bestie...perfect.

DAY2-

We started off the day with the most incredible cheap mexican food ever. Then it was off to the Exploratorium.

I felt like a mom with two little boys the way Tim and Jerame were running around "exploring". It was a pretty neat place to go and I highly recommend it, if you find yourself in San Francisco with time to kill.

After we were filled with scientific knowledge we decided to head for L.A., and THIS happened.

Even though I inhaled an almost lethal amount of gas hanging out with these two guys, I had such an amazing time up north and I am so happy I got to spend some real quality time with my oldest friend. But don't tell him I said that.

Next stop...we are back in LA for turkey day and midnight shopping...maybe.

Talks with TK...

Tuesday, November 29, 2011

After watching the Cirque Du Soleil show IRIS with my sister in law Debbie and telling our husbands about the show...

TK: Were there little dogs doing tricks?
BK: What? No.
TK: Oh wait, I was thinking of Ringling Brothers Circus.

A little breakfast date...

Monday, November 28, 2011

After the painful viewing of Breaking Dawn, I cried myself to sleep and woke up bright and early to meet my brother and darling niece for breakfast.

I don't know what it is about adorable little babies, but they make every outing so fun! It was the perfect start to our vacation.
Next stop...San Francisco!

Home again...

Sunday, November 27, 2011

After a long six hour drive, we are home and cuddling our furry babies.
This vacation was amazing. I don't want to ruin it by saying it was too short or that it went by too fast.
I just want to soak it up and be thankful for the time.

Be back with pictures and updates later this week.

Bed, it feels good to be reunited with you.

Good night!

The longest ride...

Wednesday, November 23, 2011

After
-3 hours in Downtown San Francisco traffic (only traveling about 6 blocks)
-the rankest bathroom I have ever smelled
-almost 2 hours of bumper to bumper traffic
-and 10 hours of this...

We made it home! Well almost. We are back in LA to spend thanksgiving with Tims family and get some more quality time with our friends.
Even though the drive back was crazy we had such a great time in San Francisco and it was soo great to spend time with my bestie Jerame. I will be posting pictures, probably next week sometimes.
Thanks for being a great host Jer!

Friday...

Friday, November 18, 2011

We made it to California safe and sound! The drive went by pretty fast with a little bit of napping, good convo and singing our favorite old school jams. We pulled into town just in time to grab a quick bite to eat and catch to the midnight showing of Breaking Dawn. I would not really consider myself a fan of the Twilight series. I read this first book and never desired to read anymore. I am not particularly attracted to anyone in the cast. (RPatts can look pretty good every now and then but lately has been looking pretty shabby) I have seen all the movies, and although not close to being good movies, I have been entertained and could get a few laughs from the cheesiness of it all.
But seriously guys, the latest installment is pure garbage. This movie was just so incredibly bad. The story was terrible, granted it was following the book (and I am told it did that pretty well), it was just plain stupid. Besides the corny laughable one liners, it was just plain boring. I will say that Kristen Stewart did have a larger array of emotion in this movie. She actually smiled in a few scenes and genuinely looked happy. After the movie, our group was split right down the middle: Half us thought it was trash and the other half loved it and can't wait for the second half. So that's that!

We intended on heading to Northern California this morning, but unfortunately, my cousin is super sick so we decided to stick around LA a bit longer and will head out to San Francisco Sunday. We don't mind one bit because it means we get to spend more time with some of our fave people!

Since I had a little time on my hands today, here are a few weeks I enjoyed this week:

-Beautiful Clouds

-I hope this movie comes to Arizona soon, I cannot wait to watch it!

-Kara is getting married tomorrow! So excited for her!

-I love cute office supplies!

-I can't get enough of Jen's beautiful photography!

Oh yeah, and I got to see this kid today...

Have a nice weekend!

And we are off...

Thursday, November 17, 2011

I haven't been blogging much lately. I have been busy, and working, and very sick and very tired. But most importantly I have been preparing for our 10 day vacation! That's right, today we leave for a bit of a road trip. No where fancy, but we are excited just the same. Here is our itinerary...

Today:
-Hit the road to Los Angeles around 2pm
-Catch a midnight showing of Breaking Dawn with friends (Seriously guys, I am little bit dreading this because of all the crazy, screaming little girls that will probably be there. I realize that thought makes me old)

Tomorrow:
-Get back on the road sometime in the morning and head to Northern California, Redding specifically, to visit my lovely cousin Gina and her family.

Saturday Night or Sunday Morning;
-Jump in the car and head to San Francisco to visit this guy!

Tuesday Night/Wednesday Morning:
-Drive back to LA for thanksgiving with Tims family! My sister in law is seriously a genius in the kitchen and I cannot wait for her thanksgiving dinner!

Sunday:
-Head home

So that is what we will be doing for the next week. We both are super excited for this trip. We have been feeling really stressed and a little burnt out lately and we have just been laying in bed and night and talking about how it will be soooooo nice to get away for awhile. Even though I will miss being with my family for the holiday :(
As you can see, most of our trip we are just playing by ear. We wil be staying with friends and family the entire time so we don't have to have anything set in stone in regards to departure times because of hotel reservations or anything. Which eliminates tons of stress!

Your probably thinking "Don't you guys go to California all the time? Big deal. Why don't you go somewhere different?". We definitely thought about changing it up a bit for this vacation but you know what we freaking love our friends! Living in arizona, we often miss a lot of little things like catching a movie with everyone, grabbing a cup of coffee or (for me) shopping with a friend. We really love when we have time to visit and just simply hang out with no obligations (like a wedding or funeral). And besides, who would not want to hang out with these people:

I thought that I would get it together before this trip and have something prepared for the blog so it was not left silent, but who am I trying to kid, it didn't happen. So I am going to try and pop in every now and then but if I don't get around to it-owell. See ya in ten days!

Thoughts on the morning...

1. I have to set a pre alarm to prepare myself for my real alarm which I still snooze at least twice.

2. I am a master at convincing myself that I am "too clean" to take a shower and that my forehead isn't too big just to throw my hair up in a top knot so I can sleep for an extra twenty minutes.
(Note: My coworkers know if my hair is in a top knot with bangs pinned back, I did not shower that morning. Don't worry, I wear perfume)

3. I cannot count how often the first thing I see in the morning is a puppy butt.

Basically, I love sleep. What is your morning routine?

P.S. My blog is lame right now....so busy :(

Friday...

Friday, November 11, 2011

Full disclosure here guys... Since last Friday, I have not worn makeup, contacts, or my hair in any way other than a messy bun. I also have not done my laundry for two weeks and I just scarfed down a brownie. Sorry Tim. I won't put up a fight when you bring home the divorce papers. (Yeah right guys, he loves me! He says my glasses and messy hair are cute. Stand up guy I tell ya)
Anyways, I am saying all this to get to a point. That point is....that I feel really bored and gross so I want to do something fun this weekend. Tomorrow our day is filled with things like oil changes, puppy haircuts and human haircuts and hopefully a little christmas shopping. Maybe tonight I will go home and shower (to clarify, I have been showering regularly) get gussied up and head out for a night with my man. Or maybe we will stay home and watch Fringe, because our dogs really love Fringe.

-This post is such a good reminder

and a question...
I think I want to make a pie. Anyone have a recipe to share?

Have a nice weekend!

When in sickness...

Thursday, November 10, 2011

Naturally, I had big blogging plans this week but I got sidetracked due to this wonderful, sinus infection that showed up this weekend. Since it stuck around for awhile (actually, it has yet to leave) I had a lot of time to sit on my couch and stare at my television while eating my moms homemade chicken soup. So here is what I watched and what I think you should be watching also...

Bones-
Photobucket
The sickness started to rear its ugly head Thursday nigh but I fought off sleep to stay up and watch the season 7 premier of BONES!
Guys, Booth and Bones are back and better than ever! I really do love this show and I love that Tim enjoys it just as much as I do so we get to watch it together. Honestly, if you don't watch Bones I don't know if we should be friends because I am not sure what kind of person you are. Okay maybe that is harsh. Just come over and watch Bones with me and we can talk it out.

American Horror Story-
Photobucket
There is nothing really creepy on TV so when Tim and I saw the previews for this show we got kinda excited. I love to get scared and creeped out but it rarely happens for me. I don't know what it is, but this show genuinely freaked me out and I can't wait to watch more!

Crazy Stupid Love-
Photobucket
God! What is it about Ryan Gosling that he can just do no wrong! I stayed home from work a couple days this week to rest up and Tim was a sweetheart and brought this home for us to watch. (Even though he knew I would just be gawking at RG the whole time)
Seriously though, what is it with this guy? He looks like he would probably be a total douche in real life but that sorta just makes me love him even more. Ah, the complicated world of Love. Anyhow, the movie was actually pretty legit. Steve Carrel was super sweet and so was the kid who played his son. Hey, Tim even chuckled a few times and said it was "not too bad"!

I Think We Are Alone Now-
Photobucket
This was one of the strangest documentaries I have ever seen. Its about a man with Asperger's Syndrome and another "Intersexual" man who both believe the 80's pop star Tiffany is their soul mate. Nuff said.

The Skin I live In-
Photobucket
I don't even know where to begin with this one. This is by far my favorite movie of the year (although I can't wait to see this one sooo). I cannot remember the last time I watched a movie with my hands to my face saying things like "oh my gosh" and "wow, seriously?" This movie was incredibly disturbing but incredibly beautiful at the same time. Elena Anaya is stunning. Just seriously stunning. I dont't wanna ruin it so read this and then watch it as soon as possible.

Okay, I gotta go...Bones is on.

Talks with TK...

Wednesday, November 9, 2011

So I just realized I have not posted a talks with TK for awhile now. That is not to say, Tim has not been saying awesome, adorable and awkward things.. don't fear, that will never end. I thought a little TK love would be a great post back after a week long, unintentional break. So here we go...

After a few interesting exchanges with Tim...
BK: What is up with you?
TK: I don't know, I just feel like a fun guy. You know, I am not a mushroom but I am still a Fun Guy!
BK: -no words-

He's back guys!! Enjoy!

We'd look good, side by side...

Wednesday, November 2, 2011

One of the first things Tim gave me after officially becoming a couple was a mixed tape (or mixed cd I suppose) of his favorite Minus the Bear songs. Ever since, they have become a favorite of ours.
Being in a long distance relationship, each visit we tried to soak up every second we were together. We would try and stretch out our nights as long as possible, hoping to never let exhaustion set in. Usually this meant driving around with nothing to do but talk for hours. We would pop in a Minus the Bear album and it made a perfect soundtrack for our adventures. For some reason, their music always seemed to match the tone of our relationship. Intense, yet relaxed and never taking itself too seriously.

Photobucket

I have always been one to match a time or event in my life to music. I can hear a song and instantly be reminded of a story from my childhood, a familiar face or an important event. I love the place those songs hold in my memory and the nostalgia it ensues when the tune starts to play. But there is something even more special knowing that when a familiar song comes on, the one you love is being reminded of the same great memory.

Photobucket

This year marks the 10th anniversary of their album Highly Refined Pirates , and they decided to go on tour to celebrate. Tim and I caught their Arizona show on Saturday. (note: This is the second “10th anniversary show” I have been to for a band and it makes me feel a little old. Am I seriously the person at the show saying things like “That kid was 4 when this album came out!”?)

Photobucket

Surprisingly, this was the first time either of us had seen them live and they exceeded our expectations. The sound was loud but clear and crisp and the band played these ten year old songs with a sincere energy and appreciation for their fans.
With every song that played another memory would come to mind. Then I would look at Tim and with his smile he would confirm, that he was sharing that same memory with me, once again.

A little rut...

Tuesday, November 1, 2011

I have multiple posts in drafts right now but I am in a little bit of an inspiration rut so I am not up for finishing any of them. I am thinking tomorrow is going to be a better day for blogging (crossing my fingers) so until then, I leave you with a few pictures of random and strange things I saw this weekend...

A Titanic printed dress-I am a huge Leo fan but I have to draw the line somewhere.
Photobucket

A Fuzzy Jumpsuit costume??? Is this really an entire costume? Like are people just "Fuzzy Jumpsuits" for Halloween?
Photobucket

and BabyBack Rib flavored chips- I don't even want to think about how this tastes.

Photobucket

America just amazes me sometimes. I am off to bed so I can try and shake off this writers block and not suck the rest of this week! Good night!
